Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum. I am a student at the moment. I currently have a situation where I own a website, but it is being spammed by people at my school. I want to be able to use an htaccess file to allow users from all ip addresses except the ip of my school. However I would like it so that when someone logs onto my site at school, htaccess asks them for a password (but not people from other ip's). This is so that I can get onto my site (by using a password), but others at the school that don't know the password can't. I hope you understand what I am trying to say. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

I don't think that you can mix the ip filtering and the password at the apache level.

Either everyone have to use a password, or everyone don't.

Oh, that's a bit annoying.

Do you know of any other way I could do it? Maybe with a PHP script, or is this not possible.

Thanks.

I'm not an expert at PHP so I don't know, but i it mandatory that you can access your site from school? You could simply block the school's IP address(es) and that would put a stop to your spam

Could you redirect one IP addy to a log-in page? Or if your site is PHP, can't you just check the IP in the page load event?
