At what point is best to move to a dedicated or VP server? I'm wondering. And once your dedicated server gets huge traffic, what steps can you take to impove that even more?

I suppose it would be clusters, so a webserver, a fileserver and a database server. Then add if and when need be.

When you see that your hosting account barelly can not handle your site anymore (your host will probably tell you also)

As for the other question,Karls answer is great.

Then its most of the times too late, I would say if you make $150 i would already get a server.

Then you have enough space to grow.

Eithre when you are paying too much for your multiple reseller accounts or you are using up your portion of the load of the server. Both of those are some pretty good measurements of time to go to a new host

Actually I just bought 2 recently. 1 just to move all my sites to and then I bought an SEO server. Basically 15 different Class C IPs all on one server.

I think it was time for me to get one when I started forgetting where my sites were hosted. Also I found a PR5 directory I forgot I had.

These are.

Basically hosting where you can have more than 1 class C IP address on it. This is the only company that offers this as of right now.

Shouldn't that be called 'Search Engine Spammer Server' then?

Ahh no not even close.

This is just so you can host all your sites at one place and not get penalized for linking your sites together.

What I use em for is to make a network of directories though.

Well, I'm joking with you, but who'd be afraid of being penalized for interlinking sites except a search engine spammer?

Anyone that believes in the class C IP theory. Where if 2 sites share the same class c IP they dont help each other out because they are seen as related.

Im not a search engine spammer!

I would say the best time to move to a dedicated server is simple.

As soon as you can afford it. It is a must for any site that plans on long term success to do it as quickly as you can.

lol... Google could easily figure out what sites are coming from that hosting company... you just can't trick Google.

Anyway, the way I found out I needed to move over to a VPS was when I started to get kicked out of shared hosting networks because my sites were using too many resources, hehe

actually its harder than you think.

They are split up at different datacenters. Have all unique name servers. They do a really good job at this.

Usually you'll need to move for one of two reasons. 1) You're using up too many resource whether that be memory or cpu. If this is the case you can probably try a vps since you'll have a guaranteed amount of memory allocated to you. Before you do though, you should find out how much memory/cpu your site(s) need since perhaps even a vps account won't be enough. 2) You're using up too much bandwidth. In this case a vps may not help you much as bandwidth isn't all that much more with many vps accounts. Getting a dedicated will allow you your choice of bandwidth plans. You can get 1TB, 2TB, 3TB at 10mbps or 100mps or higher. Or you can get an unmetered port at various speeds. Just depends on how much you're willing to pay.

You get a dedicated server(s) when your old hosting just isn't cutting it. Personally I don't understand the whole VPS thing when you can get a decent dedicated machine for not much more. When you move to multiple servers is another problem all together

As far as the ipaddress thing goes, you can buy blocks of ipaddresses from any decent webhost. You just need to ask and be willing to pay.

Even every hosting company offers it and it doesn't hurt to buy a block of ipaddre to your seo
