How do certain sites get words to go directly to their site?

For example, if I type "sitepoint" I get automatically directed to sitepoint.com

it just goes to the .com site...

like i put in pyropixel, i got pyropixel.com

If you're using Firefox, it's because they send you to the first site that shows up on Google.

Yeah.. you have to have google toolbar installed. It just takes the first result and sends you there..

It's the same site you'll get if you go to Google and type "I'm Feeling Lucky" if you have the Google toolbar.

I've heard IE 7 will have the same feature only using MSN search results [of course].

Yeah, I was using IE7 for a weeks and that's what it did. I switched it to Google though.

This works http://www.surch.com/ and its a lot different to the masses
. They are in final testing stages and I would like to hear what people think
about it so far. All comments and suggestions welcome!
