If you host your site using a free hosting package, don't you feel insecure about your site. The free host has no obligation to provide you with a good service and your site could be taken down at any time without notice.

I think anyone serious about their site should buy hosting, it comes very cheap these days. Myself I always stay clear of free hosted sites, if the owner can't be bothered to pay for his own hosting/domain then it isn't worth it.

That's just the key there. Not all sites require the same level of "seriousness." If I were to create a web site about my favorite basketball team, I don't see a problem with going to a free host and a short url service. Some people do build web sites for fun, and some do actually contain pretty useful/interesting content.

I used free hosting when I first started off. If I had jumped straight in and bought domains and hosting and then decided I didnt like it it would have been a waste.

I think you should only pay for hosting when you start getting serious and want to make money from your sites.

Its always a good idea for businesses to have a professional looking site and a domain because it makes your business seem much more professional when you have an 'onlince presence'.

No problem if just a simple html site, since no confidential data will be store. What I can say is don't host your business site on free host. Even paid hosting still does not guarantee secure.

Mines a free host and i have no problems with it, and i got IPB runing and **** :P

You gotta read the TOS. In most cheap paid hosting, they straight up tell you that they can shut down your site for whatever reason. Bill you extra.. etc.

But I don't think that all hosting sites are bad..
I have had quite a few that were pretty good too~!
But all in all, having your hosting is the best still XD

I use free hosting myself, but the only reason why is because I'm too young to buy paid hosting (will be 18 in 6 months), and I don't think my parents would sign me up, though I think I might try.

There are some free hosts out there that are reliable and trustworthy, you just have to look in all the right places.

i think i can trust the host that hosts my site for free - me. :P

You get what you pay for - that's basically what it comes down to. If you don't want to spend money, then don't expect any service. I have never used free hosting - because I value the effort that goes into my sites - and if I were to lose them.... well, what's the point?
