I am looking into buying 2 established proxy sites. Currently they are hosted on one unmetered dedicated server and the owner is paying $119/mo. The speed is good, but not so good that I feel I could afford to sacrifice some for a much cheaper solution.
What kind of server setup do you recommend for hosting 2 proxy sites? Do you have a recommended vendor?
I'm looking for hosting for a proxy site too, so Rob: if you find a VPS and want to share then maybe we can work something out? I'm sure any one of us would need an entire server or VPS for just two proxy sites.
Would a VPS cut it though? I've talked to a lot of people who have run proxy sites who said that they couldn't get enough bandwidth out of a VPS to run a successful site. That's why I wanted to get an unmetered server, so I can run 2 or 3 proxy sites. The actual site wouldn't take up that much space but they'll go through hundreds or thousands of gigs in a month. The more money you want to make from the site, the more people have to have using it. The more people you have using it, the more bandwidth you're going to consume.
hey handsome rob, only 4-5 days old, but went from 400 pageviews to over 2200 today over 150 uniques. I think Im going to keep it now, didnt expect the boost in traffic. That with a good CPM affiliate program=cash. taken off the market for the time being. sorry.
