This is the strangest thing Ive seen . dont know if any one here can answer but here goes :

we have a PC that will not save or OVERWRITE FILES when connected to the server. Using Filezilla btw... BUT i can connect to my other server using the EXACT same filezilla prog and settings and the prog will save overwrite .. its all good . .. ... ,HERES THE KICKER > i thought .. ok this is a server side issue .. well no because I went to my freinds computer downloaded filezilla and put in all the FTP info for the site ,, and BAM > connected > and was able to overwrite files .. ect..

So on Computer A ( the problem one ) it will connect to the server but WILL NOT save or overwrite to it > it can however get files FROM the server and save them onto the hard drive . BUT on this same computer A I can connect to a different server and save overwrite ect..ect..

I dont understand why .. the server has the site WIDE open permissions .. ect ,, and still the same problem , yet If I connect using my PC , Computer B .. I can connect to BOTH servers and save , overwrite ,, ect..
So If I could just get the Computer A to be able to upload and overwrite files on the server I would be all set .. but it I can only download from the server to PC A. but on PC B. everything works great.. get it ?

Makes no sense to me , the server , or any one I ask about this.. PLEASE>..................... HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPPPP !!!

OMG .. IM goiN craazy I think ...

Wish I knew the answer to this "problem" with Filezilla 'cos it annoys the **** out of me as well!!!!!

and sometimes it will write files & folders quite happily, other times it will only write files and NOT create folders, and all this on the same machine to the same server ?????

Strange. I don't think I've seen that. I'd guess it's some setting in Filezilla somewhere, but I have no idea which one.

The one issue that was giving me problems was when I'd batch upload to the server sometimes a file or two would get saved with the wrong name. It was an easy one to fix. I just had to make sure the transfer mode was binary.

- well this problem is not just with filezilla , I tried just to save a file using frontpage , and got some port 80 error .... I never use frontpage to save files , but they did on this PC (A) .. so I was setting them up with a better way "filezilla" and still got the same result that frontpage got .. no PORT 80 error , but same result that the file will not save or overwrite ..

The server is no (*&(*$^^%^ Help at all . .. the guys scoffing at me .. so I guess I just have to switch to the server that worked on Computer (A) which was my server in Cali - Its a fix of the problem , I just hope that I dont run into the same thing a gain because of never actually figuring out the probel m..

Its strang e you know the on PC (A) have updated thier website the same way for 12 years .. and then BOOM .. this Huge IT problem , when they have changed nothing on thier end at all..

I wonder if it could be your IP address? Could your hosting be blocking that IP?

How about trying a different ftp client on computer A, say Cute FTP, WS-FTP, for a couple of possibilities.

I am assuming your Computer A and B both run Microsoft Windows of the same version?

Both computers connect to the Internet through the same modem or router, and possibly you have a firewall installed on each, and possibly a firewall on the router?

If using a software firewall, try disabling it and using Windows firewall for a moment.

You may have to set up port forwarding on the computer A to forward port 21 through the router.

Check to see that your ftp client is using passive file transfer instead of active...

mostly offtopic.....
but, I recommend turning off FTP. Most site hacks occur because of vulnerabilities in FTP servers.
Just make sure an SSH daemon is installed and SCP your files instead. If you're moving lots of stuff like a PHP or static HTML site, just use rsync and save time and effort.

just my $0.02

Try using another FTP daemon. If the error proceeds check the folder permissions.
