Hey Everyone Ive been at this all last night and been running through it this morning as well. Does anyone else run windows VISTA and use Dreamweaver CS3's FTP? I keep getting this error everytime I try logging into a site through it....

http://eveotto.com/DreamweaverCS3error.jpg

From what Ive found on-line from other peoples just researching it is a common problem and no one has really come up with a solution other than disabling the firewall settings on their computer. From what it sounds like...but not entirely sure...is it is a bug within windows vista rather than dreamweaver. In one case I did read that after the person took 3 of the updates of his computer it worked properly again. Although I have read about the bug on leopard as well. Any ideas on where to go so that I do not need to go back and forth between dreamweaver and another program for uploading to a site. It just seams more convenient to use dreamweaver while im working.

Any ideas, advice, or solutions would be amazing.

Thanks in advance,
Mike

Try changing the timeout to like 30 or 60 seconds. It is probably set at something too short.

Edit > Preferences > Site > FTP Time out

I hope this helps

Ive had it set to both a long timeout and what I have it at now is a short timeout. Neither fixed the problem though

I may just end up buying SmartFTP for $40 more -_- although I already spent a good chunch on these adobe products I should be able to use them you would think.

Any other suggestions or maybe even thoughts on a decent FTP before I go and purchase SmartFTP?

Ive looked into FileZilla but it seems really simplistic. Only a few uploads at a time and 1 log in at a time. Smart FTP spoiled me 0_o

lol

Any suggestions on fixing my dreamweaver problem possibly though -_-

Well, I find 10 files over as many connections as the server will allow ample.

Not at all, but the majority of my sites only consist of 3 to 5 hundred physical files and a database.

Have a look at WebMaestro. The developer is a moderator here ForrestCroce
