Hey everyone I have a windows server setup with XAMPP running a mysql database along with SVN. Now i have 2 other computers one is a mac and another is a windows pc. When we load up our projects on the windows pc it has no problem connecing to the db, but with the MAC it likes to hang about 10seconds and then connects. I tried a lot of trouble shoot and cant seem to find the answer, has anyone had this problem?

sounds like it could be a DNS issue

are you connecting using DNS hostnames, IP, Trusted Pipes, UNC names or ???

It's how you are referencing the server on the client machines

http ://192.168.x.x (IP)

http ://SERVERNAME (NETBIOS / WINS)

http ://server.network.ext (DNS)

\\servername\ (UNC)

yes, we are using IP then.

I actually went into th my.cnf file located in the mysql folder and added

skip-name-resolve

and it works fine now. it seems it was the DNS. the database was showing unauthenticated user for the mac.
