I'm working on a site which is being redirected from domain A to domain B, but the redirection isn't needed any more as domain a is becoming their main domain.

This has been set up by someone else and I'm a bit confused as to how. It seems that both domains share a common space on the server, becuase when I FTP into them the same files are shown for both domains (I've checked this by uploading a file to A, and it appeared in the folder for B).

I'm guessing there will be htaccess or 301 redirection going on but as I can't seem to get into the FTP for domain A then I'm a bit stuck!

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance, J

If they are on the same server space there will only be the one htaccess file.

Thanks for the reply (and move)

Yeah that's what I was thinking. Been digging around a bit and it seems that domain A isn't linked to any web space at all.

They are both registered with Telewest, the problem is they don't have any cPanel or similar so I'm a bit stuck for ideas on how we will be able to change the forwarding.

Tried calling them but they're pretty useless about it all. "Ring back Wednesday" was one suggestion from their support

edit: does anyone else have experience with Telewest / Virgin and redirection?

It's one big problem with ISP hosting, they are mostly clueless about it. It's simply offered as an "as is" service to their customers with little or no support if you decide to use it for commercial sites.

About the only "redirection" they offer is frame forwarding to your "free" space that comes along with your DSL/Dial up account.

I would suggest moving to a "real" host with a control panel (and real support).

Can you post the URIs so we can check the redirection used? (or PM them if you don't want them public)

Assume that ISP host is the same as free web hosting. Chris is right with obvious paid web hosting you will have panel and can manage that easy
