Okay so I'm setup on a Ubuntu 8.10 server.

Running apache, php, MySQL and webmin...

I also have a no-ip.com account.

So if I hit my no-ip address it can access my webserver saying "It Works!", but if I hit my domain i get a Address Not Found.
I've tried this with 2 domains, so I noticed the change from name servers as 2 are down.

But when I put my no-ip address in 1and1 as a nameserver... my address is something like myname.no-ip.org.

Even without setting up the vhost i should get "It Works!" right?
Or did I miss out a step?

you need to point your nameserver entry for the hostname to the no-ip.org nameservers.

Is that not what I am doing?

In my 1and1.co.uk account my domain's DNS is this:

Primary name server: *****.no-ip.org
Secondary name server: 1&1 name server

both nameservers need to point to no-ip nameservers, they are the only ones that "know" what IP the site is currently located on.

IF you only have one site setup in apache and no VirtualHost entries, any HTTP traffic should get Apache to serve out the index page for the default site. Otherwise you need a VirtualHost entry in the httpd.conf for your hostname.

Not with dynamic IP services, they have the TTL of their hostnames set to 10 minutes (or less)
