Hi:

My first post here....So i hope this is in the correct place....

And I hope you can understand my question......

I know just enough about websites to get them done....usually.....

My question is.....how do I assign a secondary url to a page....im not sure if im using the correct words here but I will try to explain....

If the original url for a page is http://themaincourse.org/podcastrss1.xml

and I want to have another url for the same page of http://themaincourse.org/podcast

but also keep the orignal url.....basically I want both urls in red to go to the same page...

can someone tell me how to do this?

I appreciate any help....

"/podcastrss1.xml"? or do you mean "/podcast/rss1.xml"

do you mean

/blah/ and blah/index.ext

or /blah/ and /thisisalsoblah/

or do you want the URI of /podcast/ to serve out the file rss.xml

Register them both and point the DNS to the DNS servers of your hosting.
Done.

maybe im explaining it wrong....

1. I have a website lets say it is www.mywebsite.com

2. On that website there is a page who's address is www.mywebsite.com/apage12sjr743ef.html

3. I want this page to have another address, lets say it is www.mywebsite.com/apage.html

4. But I want to keep the original address (www.mywebsite.com/apage12sjr743ef.html) also....

5. so if you typed in either address, www.mywebsite.com/apage12sjr743ef.html or www.mywebsite.com/apage.html it would take you to the same page.

6. I hope this makes more sense.

thanks

chris

thanks

chris

page aliasing then.

you do realise that most of us work hard at stopping that from happening!

What server technology? Apache or IIS

If Apache, do you know how to use .htaccess?

I know where the htacess file is.....but note sure about what code to enther for this....but I did see a tutorial somewhere about this......

why do u try to stop this?

I want to use ths when the link to the page is extemely long like this

http://exposureministry.org/gallery/...g2_itemId=5894

the new link will be http://exposureministry.org/myname

Just so when I verbally give out the link it wont be so long....
