I have a question about analytics and the use of iframes. Sometimes it is useful to display a site within an iframe on a single page from another website. Even better to use an object tag for XHTML validation of course.

I am wondering how this affects traffic reports in Google analytics or any other analytics software. If somebody visits a page on one website that is loading another site in the iframe, how is the visit being tracked for the site that is in the iframe? Is it considered a direct visit? Is it a referral from the original site? Is it even tracked at all?

I don't think it would show a visit to the other page, but I'm not 100% sure. That other page might see a referrer from your page. Is the page in the iframe from one of your sites. If it is then it shouldn't be too hard to figure out.
