Hiya
I have installed WP in my main directory and it works fine.

The problem I have is that when I visit the website URL, www.thenameofmywebsite.com what actually comes up visually is http://thenameofmywebsite.com and I lose the www. bit.

Is there a setting or something that can be changed to stop this happening?

It doesn't seem to be a standard thing that happens on all WP websites, so must be something I've done, or not done ?

I would appreciate any guidance you can provide, sorry if its a silly question but I can't work out what the issue is.

Regards
A

You probably have a redirect set up to prevent canonical "issues" with SEs.

Sorry not sure what that means, though I appreciate the response. Is there somewhere in Wordpress that i can change this. I have created Wordpress websites previously and this hasn't happened ?

no idea.

An educated guess is that it would be in .htaccess assuming your site is hosted on Apache.

It seems that you have used http://thenameofmywebsite.com as a blog URL instead of www URL. You can change your blog URL from your wordpress admin.

- Login to your wordpress admin panel.
- Go to "Settings" -> "General".

From here, you can change your blog URL.
