Ok so I have a website that has been using a domain name for a few years now. I purchased a shorter easier to remember domain name and made this the primary and had the old domain forward to the new one using the godaddy forward tool. The problem I am having is that when I use any search engine The old domain comes up and when selected will not forward to the new one. It works fine if i type the old domain in the address bar just not using search engines. This has become a problem because when within the old domain I am recieving broken links. any help is appreciated.

probably because "GoDaddy frorwarding" is not a "301 redirection"

so this would basically be a godaddy issue, and using the go daddy forwarder is garbage?

Not necessarily, it depends on which forwarding option you selected.

They dont give to many options for forwarding. I will have to look in to the 301 redirect.

thats what i've had selected all along, I guess ill just have to call godaddy and figure out what the issue is

I'm afraid I dropped the crystal ball last week, so I have to rely on real information now!!

Nope! that was merely a guess. Same way I "guessed" that you were not using masking from the statement

"the only other option is to forward with masking"

So by a process of elimination and deduction, with "only other option" taken as meaning "There are two options, one is 'masking', but I have not selected that one". I reached the correctconclusion of you are NOT using masking.

Now, I still have no idea what the other option is, and I am not about to sign up for hosting at GoDaddy to find out, so unless you are prepared to divulge that information, I can only deduce that you no longer wish to pursue a solution for your problem by using this thread as a medium to receive assistance.
