Hi, I want to know how many people have visited my site but google analytics seems to be recording some things incorrectly. How do I check my site log file? I can't see any .log file anywhere?

Log into whatever control panel your host provides and there should be some analysis tools you can use.

Thanks Chris.

I just checked my site logs and it has a section which tells me which sites are referring traffic to mine. Some of these sites I've never heard of before and when I look at them they don't seem to have any connection to the topic of my site and they don't see to contain any links to my site!? Any ideas why?

cheers

Those sites are generally spam.
You can use scripts to make other sites look like you've linked to them, then when those looking at the logs, see those sites, they'll click on them (just like u did)
It's pretty lame if you ask me, they'll start to stand out after a while, you may be able to block them from your logs depending on what you're using.

That is true for the "getting backlinks" intentions
