Sorry, if this is basic, but don't know how to do it.
One of the microsites lives on www.urlx.org.uk/microsite, but it had been moved there from www.microsite.org.uk and I need to be able to use landing page urls as in www.microsite.org.uk/landing page.
Can someone tell me (in lame man's terms) how to do it, please? Or direct me to where I can read about how to do it.
There will be several ways to achieve this, it will depend on which method you can use.

There isn't a "best one" they all do pretty much the same job, it's simply that we'll need to know what would be available to you on the hosting you use.

If you have PHP enabled servers, You can do it with that.
If you have access to the HTTPD config files, Youc an do it through that.
If you would prefer, You can use javascript.
