- Allow downloads (with password option)

Regarding the internet provider.. Im assuming you mean hosting provider? to host your website?

Id suggest having a browse through the hosting section of this forum.

i personally use fasthosts.co.uk however i doubt you will need much more other than some simple shared hosting to start with.

Alright, here's a few answers:

1) The web hosting market is so over saturated, that it basically comes down to preference. There are hundreds of web hosting providers, all very; reputable, reliable, and in essence "good". Have a look around, talk to a few hosts, contact support, and decide for yourself. Know that one customers experience is almost never a reflection of the kind of experience you'll receive. It's all based on preference - and how you like being handled. Again, have a look around.

2) Be creative with the domain name, and try to keep it simple. The easier to remember, the better.

3) If you have some time on your hands, you can search the forums and pick up a little bit of HTML, CSS, and PHP - and attempt to design a website. There are plenty of people at Webmaster-Talk that can assist you with that. If you have more money than time, you can certainly hire someone to work on the website for you. Again, there are plenty of people here that would be glad to take your mo... I mean, help you out .

- Just writing the word "Web Hosting" on google and you will get unlimited number of web hosts. I will advice you to go for a free webhost before paying it so if you fail your premier experience you don't loose many dollars. Otherwise, you can go for a web hosting provider like KVCHosting.com (I'm hosting my sites with them and they assure), search about reviews and what people say about hosts before buying. You can find two reviews (articles) about two webhosts on my blog, and you can also search on google about "WebHosts Reviews".

2. How to come up with easy, well known domain name?
- To get a real great domain name with big SEO potential and good future, just make it max 2 words and not passing 10 characters, with targeting the best of what you can. E.g. 1stWebHost.com is better than Itsthefirstwebhost.com.

3. How to get a simple website to present my material.
- Allow downloads (with password option)
** There hundreds of scripts allowing to do this, in your case of a New user, it might be better to download an CMS like Joomla which will help you a lot starting your first website
- Keep tack of downloads and visitor
** As I said above, CMS like Joomla (Drupal and Xoops are also CMS's, 3 of them free) will permit you to do better than what you ask for!
