I have a 3 months old dating site. I transfer from an 18 months old dating site to this site.
Should I use htaccess 301 to redirect from the old site to this new site?
or
Should I create a link from the old site so users can click on it to go to the new site?
What method is better?

You can do both actually and start promoting your new site.

Tricks to get indexed fast by Search Engines:

After you have done your new website, login Blogger.com and create a blog there. Don’t need to be serious about this blog, you just make use of it for your new website. Start a new post with link to your website in Blogger.com account. Don’t need to write full page long, just few keyword text with links are enough. Publish the post. An atom.xml file is generated as well. The path of your atom.xml is http://yourblog.blogspot.com/atom.xml. Note the path. Here is Second Part. Login My Yahoo!, click the “+ Add content” link, which located under the search field.
At “Find Content” bar, click “Add RSS by URL” At new page, paste your blogger.com atom feed URL into the URL field, and click “Add” button. The feed will be displayed in My Yahoo! page.

Simply apply a permanaent redirect (HTTP 301 response) by whatever means available it does not have to be by using .htaccess.

It does take several months for the redirect to take full effect.

does someone have a generic .htaccess 301 redirect that can be used? I just need to insert my domain? Thanks
