I am new to this forum and today I was given a challenge to find best practices for managing websites for one organization that has offices in several countries and different languages. We are want to have a portion of the English website translated to the other languages (not all pages). My question is how is that best handled? We have data in the US that the Asian and European countries will need to have access to, we have certain pages that will not be translated and will need to be in a central location, while the language specific pages will be managed by the offices in the other countries.
How does a company manage the continuity of the brand and message across different countries and languages?
I have seen websites that have a flag icon to let the user decide the language of the website. However, the users of the different languages on our website will be in other continents.
What type of network traffic and latency can be expected and avoided?
How are changes propigated throughout the different locations?
I want to make sure we set this up properly so that months down the road it's not a major nightmare to manage and control. Any advice or direction is appreciated.
