Hi Guys,

Does anyone know where i can get a cheap or ( preferable - Free SSL cert? )

Id like to run SSL on my site, but i really cannot afford a fortune ( or even a few quid ) for one..

Any ideas?

I could generate one myself, but then that just causes problems for people who want to visit by giving errors etc )

While they are not in the browser CA list, http://www.cacert.org/ is working hard to be. They also have information about how you can instruct users to add their certificate to your browsers' authority lists. When I've used it, I took people to a splash page first that instructed them to install the certificate before moving on to the secured part of the site. Depending on how you phrase it, you can make it sound like an excellent security move.

If you get your domains through Namecheap, you usually get a free SSL certificate each time.

Yeah I was just going to recommend namecheap. I think they sell them cheap in case you don't have your domain with them, and I think (I could be wrong) you could register a new domain, and make use of that SSL cert on your existing domain. You could also just register a different domain (like a cheap $3 .info) just for your order pages etc where you need the secure cert, depending on your specific needs.

What's it for? ordering pages, client accounts, or what?
