OK, this may seem as bizarre to some people but just bear with me!

I currently use MediaLayer which has proven to be FANTASTIC for support, uptime, reliability, speed, etc! But for their price, the amount of disk space I get is just so-so.

SO, if I went with say for instance Dreamhost or 1&1 or one of those companies for JUST a file host (streaming MP3s, etc) could I set it up as a subdomain?

For example, I have my main website mywebsite.com on MediaLayer servers

Then I have content.mywebsite.com on Dreamhost servers.

Would this be possible?

You could as long as the host doesn't have this disabled in cPanel. Some hosts disable this for security purposes.

If you can edit the DNS zone you can point the 'A' records wherever you want.
