Does anyone know how to disable global-register and mb_string for a drupal install I'm using a shared hosting account so it needs to be done with a php.ini file can anyone help.

php_flag mbstring.encoding_translation Off
php_value mbstring.http_input pass
php_value mbstring.http_output pass

in your .htaccess file

I got my host to sort but wasn't done like this thanks for sharing.
