I manage the music ministry portion of our church website. Over the years I've managed to leave hundreds (probably) of orphaned files on the server. We are in the process of redesigning and moving the whole site. It's a good time to clean things up. Is there and freeware out there that would help me find and archive these orphans? These's just no money to buy software and I do all this for free already,

Use Xenu's Link Sleuth to populate a list of linked pages.

Yes, Xenu is great and I do need to check links. That is another part of this process that'll need to be done. But it doesn't list any of the files sitting on my server that are not linked to anything any more. For instance, I have a lot of music files that are used for choir parts in various formats. Many are no longer in use but which ones those are is not immediately obveous just by looking through folders on the server.

I suppose I could print out Xenu's list and check every file on the site to see if it appears on Xenu's list but that would take many, many hours that I do not have. I think whatever I use will need to use an FTP client to "see" all the files on the server and identify what a program like Xenu never sees ('cause there are no links to these files - they're orphans).

Is the server *nix or Windows?
Do you have shell access (*nix) or TS/RDP (windows)?
Does your hosting support any scripting language?
Do use Server Side Includes?

There are several ways that the problem may be resolved, BUT without knowing a lot more about the whole system and the site architecture, we can't offer anything more than generic advice, which is:-

Make a list of the pages on the site and linked files, then work though it by hand
