I am starting to get my head around the SVN concept.

Everything I have read so far though has been cases
where people develop on their local host (C drive)
and check the finished copy into the SVN server repository.

MY QUESTION, is this.
For my own reasons, I have always felt more comfortable
developing on the server, under a development directory,
not on my laptop or desktop local environment.

Can I still check my working copy into SVN from another
server location?

Some programs like Magento are simply too resource intentsive
to properly develop on a local environment, I believe.

Of course you can.
The only thing is that if you access your files from several os'es, watch which version of the svn client you are using.

The .svn folder keeps a small db with changes, and I had the case where I did an svn update from ssh on the server, which upgraded the db.
The problem was the enxt day, when I tried to do a commit from my workstation, where the svn client was older.
I was greeted with an error trying to commit, that the version was too old.
