Hi all,

I have a website that i built using free webspace that came with my ISP ( very basic hosting) it does however achieve fantastic search engine performance. I have now got myself a domain name and better hosting so i want to redirct my old site to my new one.

My question is the hosting from my ISP does not allow .htaccess (as far as i can see) so i cant perform 301 redirects. Is there any other way i can redirect my site without using the META Refresh tag which i have heard is a bad thing to do.

Use the following in your index.php to redirect (301 permanent):

Header( "HTTP/1.1 301 Moved Permanently" );
Header( "Location: http://www.new-url.com" );
?>

Search Engines now handle a 0 second meta refresh AS equivalent to a permanent redirect.

Sorry my host cannot use PHP im afraid.

Is META Refresh still looked at as spam by search engines or is it ok in moderation?
