.htaccess w/o Apache server

Hello,

I own two websites. The operation is small but as I work with images, I have several pages
In the very beginning (8 years ago), my host service used an Apache server, so I just set a .htaccess file
with the IPs I wanted to block and my problem was solved
However, the host changed the server (a non Apache server) so, the .htaccess files don't upload
Of course, I have several scripts (javascript) placed in my pages. The problem is that these scripts must be
placed one in each page and in all the pages --> as my contents are dynamic and I have different access
pages, the script updates and uploads take a lot of time
My question is: is there any script for the website (not for the pages) that can be used with a non Apache
server?
TIA
Marsh

What web server are they using? Most of those have a function like the .htaccess file. The just call it something different.

Hi colbyt and thank you for your answer

I am becoming crazy last week they told me that the problem was the non Apache server. Few minutes ago I called to my host and they told me that they do use Apache servers runing with Unix operating system, however, I can't use the .htaccess script
The host is Yahoo Small Business (PAID)
As a matter of fact, since this change they did, I can't upload any file with empty spaces --> for example --> if I wish to upload a file called "my file"--> I must rename it as "my_file"
I'd appreciate any help....

TIA

Marsh

Change hosts.

AND spaces in file names are never a good idea anyway.

I have to agree with Chris on this one and avoid Godaddy as well. Find yourself a cPanel based hosting company. DirectAdmin is okay also but avoid all the homegrown control packages. Your life will be much happier.
