My dedicated server only used for one website, the disk usage in /home directory is 25Gb, where 5Gb is mysql database

In WHM > Configure Backup > I set 'Backup Status' to Enabled, with time Daily, Weekly, and Monthly

i already install plugins 'Configure cPanel Cron Times'a too, and set it in the most off peak time, 2am

but its still make the load become high, can be more than 10, sometime i cant open the website when the server load become high, when WHM backup progressing in the backend, but few minutes again the load is reduced and the website can opened again


please help how to reduce the load from backup progress, or slower the progress

In 'Backup SQL Databases', is it set 'Per Account Only' will be help, instead choosing 'Per Account and Entire MySQL Directory'?

Run "top" in a shell session to see or log what processes are using the resources

command line

top -h -d 1 -f log.top

will write the output to a text file called log.top in the logged on users directory.

Also we have been taking backups with mysqlhotcopy.

It performs much faster and uses less resources than running mysqldump backups, with about 30Gb of data in 20+ databases.

the PHP 5 Handler are dso

in SSH > top command, i only can see USER nobody and mysql

and i only use the server for one website

what do you think, to found out the high load source?

It doesn't matter whether there is one website or fifty, it is what the sites DO determines the load.

what do you think, to found out the high load source?

Without process logging? Absolutely no chance.
If you have WHM you can look at the daily process logs in "Server Status" to see what is spiking and what is being used.

A "shell session" is when you login to a server over Secure SHell (SSH )

It is a protocol for handling command line operations on server. It is extremely lightweight (in terms of bandwith) as it only sends keyboard commands to the server and returns console messages as text to the client.

It's like using DoS or CP/m on computers in the 1980's.
