Anyone know of a blog directory like Blog Catalog where people can add friends and display them on their blog or something like technorati where people can also display visitors or friends to their blogs/site? I'd like to start my own but I can't find anything on Google that looks to have the social networking aspect I'm looking for.

Why don't you try myroomie.net or blogrush.com? The first one is a blog network where you exchange blog traffic by displaying a thumbnail on your blog, and the second one works in a similar way but instead of displaying a thumbnail you display a larger widget containing blog post titles of other blogs. Directories don't bring in as much traffic as these two websites do.

Oh and I forgot to mention mybloglog.com - that one has the social aspect you're looking for.
