I am in the process of setting up a not-for-profit community based website. I have been toying with some different scripts. At the moment, I have mkportal + phpbb3 running, but its immensely annoying because mkportal isn't officially supporting phpbb3 yet, so I'm having all kinds of small problems with modules and extensions I add.
I am trying to get the following features out of my site:
-Forums- Powerful Ones. I don't want the light forums that some community scripts come with. They annoy me with their lack of features. Phpbb3 could work for me, maybe vbulletin down the line if I can make the cash.
-User Blogs. It would be really cool if I could a script that intergrates with Wordpress/Lyceum. I really like wordpress, but as long as the blog is moderately powerful, and not outrageously difficult to skin, I'd be happy.
-User Submitted Videos, Articles, Images, and links.
-Some form of chat. I like Flash Chat, but I hear it gets really slow when there are alot of people on. Anyone know if this is true? If so, I suppose I'll stick to PJIRC or something unless someone has a better idea. I would really like a better interface without the need to run an IRC server, but I don't see the option.
Does anyone know of a script that intergrates well with these? Preferably either GPL or relatively cheap.
I've looked at Dolphin, which seems to now be free, though I'm not sure about it...for one, I don't know if I like Orca, and I'm also not sure how "free" it is...anyone have any experience with it?
