I have developed this website for somebody and I said I would do it for free but they wish to pay me.

I just wondered how much it would be worth?

It is CSS / XHTML and has incorporated google maps API into the find us page.

It has 2 online mailforms where 1 is quite complex.

Usually, only the web designer knows how much his own work is worth. It's hard for other people to tell. Did you not figure out the price of the site before you designed it? That would be a pretty good idea to do.

It's a great site though, so if you have a range, you should take one of the higher numbers from there.

Coolkbk is right, only you know how much your designs are worth. How much time you put into it. It's something you should really take the time to think about, how much is your time worth to you? It's cool that you offered to work for free but don't sell yourself short. Maybe in cases where they feel like they should pay you even when your offer was free you should except a donation. Leave the ball in their court and let them pay you what they can afford, afterall it was "free".

I have to agree with the rest. How many hours did it take you to do the site ? This is how you should base your price..


If you want to give your customer a discount then you can cut the price in half or something. I still think you should tell him/her, usually, I charge this but in this case, I will give you a great discount for this price (???).

$400 a bit cheap, it's a good site!

I think $400 is a good price based on the proviso it was originally free. I think if you do this in future look at doubling the price. develop a price perpage fee and then look at a starter fee, which is the minimum you would complete to set up a template. Just go from their. Also look to charge for image editing.
