Hello folks, I would like to design a professional website for a IT staffing/professional services company that I have started. The website that I would like to design is similar to the one below

www.objectsoftgroup.com

Please tell me if I can myself design a website like the above.

If yes then can a website similar to the above be designed using dreamweaver or do I need some other software.

I have got estimates of $1800 and $2300 from website designers to design a website similar to the above, is this a reasonable estimate?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'd hardly call that professional, the copy text on the home page is a load of corporate waffle! Your estimates are probably in the right ball park though.

On the question of DreamWeaver, yes, probably. However, no WYSIWYG editor can replace good knowledge of all things online - HTML, CSS, JS, PHP, ASP etc etc. Also, there is a very annoying animation, which you wouldn't be able to make in DW.

On the terms of the quote, yes, I think so, as you have multiple elements to the site. It obviously depends on a lot. If you are going to write the copy (text) yourself, don't copy ObjectSoft's - it just turns any visitor off. If you're not, that obviously adds to any quote.

This site uses flash also. You could build a site like it if you really wanted to.

There are a lot of tutorials out there to help you through whatever process of web development you're on. You can try w3schools, I found that link on another post in this site and it has been great.

The estimates look good to me.

I am not sure with your coding experience level but you can use dreamweaver if you wish. You can always manipulate the code using the "code view". Again, this all depends on your understanding.

The picture on the first page is also in Flash. So you need macromedia Flash on this. The site had a lot of contents so your quote is about right.

Not all of it. And you could probably recreate it without Flash - animated gif would work I think (though maybe not so effectively), and wouldn't cost you the £500 Flash would.

I have heard 2,500 to 3,000 dollars to build a site like that. Just with my experience, make sure its not a template website that they edit. Sometimes when you pay 1,800 they use a template base and make a few changes to it to make it look custom. I would check references from who ever designs your site. sounds good. good price. My hosting company charges 900.00 just to make a few changes to templates they already have. I hope this helped you.

Sincerely,
Christopher Bann

I would be interested in talking to you unless you already have the site built.
