Hey guys, I wanted to become a part of the webmaster world/community however I have no clue where to start.

I have my site, Unitedissues.com and what I wanted was a site that all I had to do was make a site in photoshop, and import it into the hosting company thing I bought. However I dont even know how to get a Photoshop image (like my whole design of the site I want) in/on the site of unitedissues.com

Really all i want is a simple blog that I can update everyday, along with the main page. I kinda want it like realchangenews.org as an example of the updates and blogs I will have on the site.

So can someone tell me where to start. I thought it would be something easy. Please be nice, im here on this forum for help, not people to get mad at me cause i dont know what Im doing.

First of all, you can't just take a photoshop file and upload it to a host and have it magically appear as a web page - it's impossible, and there are no tools that can do that.

You have to code the web pages to suit your design layout. Then you slice up the photoshop file so that the graphics go into the layout the way you want them.

If you want a blog, have you checked out Blogger or WordPress, Moveable Type or others ? You can get your own design to work within those blog frameworks.

You're going to have to start by learning HTML and CSS - or you hire someone who already knows how to do that and they'll do it for you.

Kid, you need more help than you realize. Web design isn't just a matter of "draw a pretty picture and then the rest takes care of itself". 95-98% of it is the code, contrary to what most graphic artists and Macromediadobe types will tell you.

Like LNR said, you're going to have to take yourself to school and learn of the ways of (X, ideally)HTML and CSS. This is where the real work is done. And my friend, it won't be easy. It takes years, and you'll still find yourself learning stuff (the great ones always learn.)

What you COULD do...and this is a very short term measure...is to use ImageReady (it comes with Photoshop) to slice up your layout and let it generate the code for you. However, this will NOT, repeat NOT, a third time NOT serve you in the long run, since ImageReady (like most WYSIWYG editors) generates a bucketload of HTML monkey crap. Hand coding = only way to fly.

You have already heard from two of the sharper minds around this this forum. I will add just a couple of comments to what they said.

Slicing a full screen PS image is a pretty dated look and does produce bloated code as Adam said. I suggest you start with something far simpler for your first site. Learn basic html and then grow with it.

Good luck.

That is the only reason I posted a softer version of the same message. Adam, while about 99.6% right in most cases is not know for his tact.

Don't want to run a fairly new member away do we?

Yes Adam, I really said that>
