1. What is a .Fire File?

2. What is a .FLA file?

3. What is the difference between the two?

4. If I created a flash gallery in a program (not macromedia flash) can i convert the .SWF to a .FLA file and still edit it in flash????

Thanks!

1 - from what I could find, this is a CoffeeCup FireStarter file
http://www.coffeecup.com/firestarter/ -- it creates Flash effects.
2 - FLA is a source Flash file created by Adobe Flash
3 - No idea.. other than one's an original source file and the other is a 3rd party program
4 - No, there is no way to 'convert' a SWF (compiled Flash file) to a SOURCE FLA file.

3. The fla file has a lot of extra information to organize the flash file so it can be edited easily. It's contents is very different in nature and is also less compressed. It will not play in the browser or on most people's systems without the full program. Hence swf is what you use and the "final" flash movie.
4. Basically I don't know that there is a point of converting to fla, the information that was removed cannot be fully put back. There are programs that claim to be swf 2 fla converters.
Flash will import SWF, but if the formatting is not perfect or the file is locked don't expect it to.
