I am a beginner to making webpages and I am having a bit of trouble. I found a template online that I would like to use, but it is in .psd format, which opens in photoshop. How do I transfer it over to dreamweaver? And since everything is one piece, how do I separate the buttons and banners from the template, so that the buttons would work?

you need to slice the psd up and then save for the web

As Xploit said, you need to slice the images in photoshop first. Go to www.tutorialized.com, they have some great tutorials on there.
