A while back I was looking for a CMS and didn't really know anything about them and reading through tons of results on Google was a little frustrating. I found it frustrating because oftentimes the demos or examples sites didn't showcase them to their full potential and the designs are usually butt ugly.
I recently came across www.cmsshowcase.com and found it a helpful site for a couple of reasons. 1. The designs for many of them are inspiring. 2. Most of the major/free CMS are represented. 3. You can visit the sites and take a look around and see what features they have.
