Can I create template in Illustrator? Or I have to use Photoshop?

I have seen templates made in Photoshop, but never in illustrator, but in Photoshop after you arrange more than 100 layers work become very slow and difficult.

I do templates only in Photoshop and it`s not that difficult if you aren`t a novice .

You can make them in Paint if you want. Illustrator probably can handle them pretty well though.

Only if your system is anemic for RAM or has a slower processor. I often have very large PSD files with tons of layers and have no problems.

If you're good with Illustrator, you can certainly do them in Illustrator. I would have a harder time working with AI because I'm not that good with it yet. Photoshop does make some things easier I think - like layer styles and such.

i use photoshop ,, but just got hold of a mac and playing with iweb for simple things .. it's like cheating

You can make a design in illustrator. I think the learning curve is higher but I've made nice designs in illustrator. Actually the designs look sharper if you make it in illustrator, especially fonts. I use photoshop because it's faster to make a design in photoshop. Either will work though.
