Ok, so I only just found out today that my website doesn't work on old computers. Now normally I wouldn't care but the website is for old computers, But it's intended to be viewed by old computers As far back as Windows 95.

So what would I have to do to make a site compatible with older computer? What all would I need to leave out and include?

stick to tables for layout because IE4/5 or NS4 (begone thou foul beast) will be about the only browsers that run on Win95 and they don't "do" CSS.

resolutions of 800x600 at the maximum, 640x480 being the norm

If I had to support something that dated I would have two independent sites and use browser / OS "sniffing" to redirect the older browsers

Sounds like it is for an organization. Is it internal only?

I would make it as simple as possible and low on the graphics if at all.

Header. Navigation. Content.

No this is a public website. Keep it to those three things and it'll be ok?

And Should I stick to the basic 16 (I think thats how many) colours?

The latest JavaScript will be incompatible.

Some colors will look "different" on older computers. Try keeping to the safe ones

With differing resolutions, processors, memory, etc. I would just keep it as simple as possible.

Win 95 could do far more than 16 colors. I think going THAT far back would be unnecessary. 16 colors goes back to the 80' !
