Each time I boot up my computer and start Dreamweaver, it can never connect to my FTP as the username and password are empty. I have to enter them in each time!

Im thinking maybe its something to do with Vista, as Ive made sure that the save checkbox is checked each time.

It's probably because you have IE7 installed on your machine, which conflicts with the DW8 FTP program (I was having similar issues before). You have to install this patch (Dreamweaver 8.02 Updater):
