Hi guys ,

I am buildong a site at the moment and need a Log in and register on it.
I am not sure how to do this because i have never put one on a site before.
Any help or advice on what to do or where to go is greatly apriciated. (Free too if possible)

Well for starters to do this you're going to need to have a Content Management System (CMS) or a forum of somekind. Of course you don't have to do it this way, but the aforementioned methods will store usernames and passwords and other details in a database too so they have their benefits.

Otherwise at a simpler level you can have a login form/script which is just written in simple php but you'll be able to have 1 password and its not very flexible.

Im not really sure what you mean. Im using drag and drop and need a login / register. Im admin of a forum. But how does this help me. What do i use off the forum?

And the server side code and database you have available is??

is this situation similar to creating a my account page for your website... create in dreamweaver then validate..guess my question is how would you create a my account page

I think we have a misunderstanding here somewhere.

If you are looking for a log-in then you either need super programming skills to create your own MySQL database or some other storage containor for the names. Or you will need a simple Content Management System such as Drupal, Joomla, phpNuke, etc.

Once you have this then the users can access different parts of the site and to do different things on the site. Hope this helps.

i am more interested in creating a my account page for my customer on my ecommerce site.. will require the content database or just a simple form-email thing? any help or advice

I have a programmer modifying the script to include email verification so it may have a few errors but you will get the general idea of the script, this was a free download and I can send it accross to you, you just need to get a MSQL database set up for it to install itself

Im not entirely sure to be honest, there is a section where members can upload I cant remember which one it is but I got it from hotscripts, if need be I'll upload it to my site and you can download it from there?

Ok I have an update, I have a new signup / login script if you wish to take a look:

This script is pretty good, you have the option for captcha code and email verification, pm me if your interested, this is far better then the last one I had, I just need to modify the members area quite a bit lol

that page would be in the log in page after the my account page.... does any have any suggestion about a my account page...
