I am making a site with some images.

There will be thumb nails on the page that when clicked open a bigger version of the image.

I would like the bigger version of the image to open in a new window.

What is the best way to do so? I'm thinking about what a pop-up blocker might block amongst coding options.

Something like what is used in this site would be good:

Don't use a popup...

Hi, I don't use popups at all... but I remember -I will have to Google- that https (SSL) secured sites can open a popup. Can anybody confirm this, or is it a urban myth?

popups died years ago, they no longer convert well. Use pop-under instead.

he not advertising ... please read all the post before you reply.
and pop unders get blocked by most popup blockers anyway

and my 2p worth ... go for litebox very cool and even if the coding isn't pretty it looks ok for the users most of the time with very little tweaking

Does anyone know of a lightbox/litebox that displays an image when someone rolls over a thumbnail rather than clicks on it?

I'm sure I saw one somewhere but cannot re-find it.

I'm sure you can set lightbox to do that ... its a "mouseover" event rather than a "on click" event ... not sure about the coding as I haven't looked at it for a while ...
