I am working on a multi faceted project for an associate, and would like to get an idea of market prices so that I can make a fair job quote. In the past, I have always charged $15 an hour/page... and that is because design has been more hobby than profession.

The job:
Redesign an existing site for a music store, create two other sites to promote his Band, and another one to promote his other interests as an Author and Composer. I will be creating all graphics, and bringing the sites up to as close to web standard as possible.

All 3 sites will be simple, no shopping carts, forums, or anything... maybe a blog on the 3rd site.

I would also be Registering Domains, setting up hosting, uploads, etc.

I will also need to capture and recompress two videos to upload to YouTube.

Many thanks in advance.

It depends ... it actually depends on your skills of web design ... and how you`re gonna actually make those sites ... you`re the one who`s making the website and you`re the one who`s gonna get all the complaints... plus you`re the one who`s gonna do the work ... think of how much you have to work and think of what would be the price for your time of work, think of the price you`re gonna sell your skills for ...

Anyway, it`s a lot of work for what you said so think carefully ... you have 3 totally different websites to create ... the only thing they have in common is actually a part of the theme ... but they are totally different ... you really have a lot of work ... and the prices for the are variable ... like for the band you`ll have to make a simple site with perfect graphics ... for the store you`ll have to make something more like an e-commerce site... and for the Author and Composer site you`ll have to include examples and this kind of stuff and you might even think of using flash to that ... you even have to think of creating a music player for the band and the author/composer website ... so you do have a lot of work ...
for example ... for the simple band website I would not go under 500$ if I were you and that would be at least the same for the Author part ... and for the e-commerce I would suggest to buy a php store and customize it(those are not cheap either ...)
So think about it very well ... and think carefully about the time you`ll need too for making these sites ... anyway ... I think you should not go under 1500$ for the deal ...

If you need any help in designing and coding with this project I`m willing to help ... of course not for free ... but I`m negociatable )

Chris

Thanks Chris, your feedback helps. As far as my skills... I learned to do websites back in the 90's, and never learned scripting. So right now, the hardest part for me is CSS, and not using tables and frames.

Since I am far from being an all around web guru, the work will be simple. No PHP, Javascript, or shopping carts. So far, that is right up my alley. But, it also means I can't charge the same as an actual pro. Video and graphics are a piece of cake.

So, do you still think $500 a site is fair to both parties?
