Hello everyone. I have started a netowrk of music related websites. They are all based on different designs etc and hosted in different places.

However I want to make a central portal that links to all the sites on the network. Site subjects range from actual websites of bands, to fansites for specific genres, and forums.

What would you recommend as a good layout that will give visitors to the page a clear overview of what's on offer from the network?

There are a thousand different ways to present this information, and I won't begin to presume to be an expert with this aspect of design.

What I'm curious about, is are you going to focus your site any more than "music related" ??

I have to recommend that you try to find a bit more of a "niche" to fall into. I'd say at a minimum, you should try and focus on a specific type of music "Rock", "R&B", etc... even better would be to target the indie scene or something like that, "Indie Rock" or even better "Indie Death metal" "Indie Progressive".

Then you could fill your website with useful articles about finding good indie bands, places to look at starting indie bands, etc.... and then provide your directory of information....

I'm just rambling now, I apologize if I haven't helped at all... but maybe you'll find a dash of inspiration in my words.

Lol, perhaps I should have been a little more specific. These are not simply links to any old site I find. These are sites I have created, or am helping with. I only work with music related websites so I thought it might be good to link them all together under one network.

What I was askingwas how would it be best to set out the sites on the main page, either like a logo for each one in a random list, or grouped links for each type of site I have.

I don't know, I'm kinda lost really, maybe there's something similar already out there you have a link to for inspiration.

Mork29, thanks for trying, I get what your saying - it's jsut unfortunate you've answered a question that I wasn't asking. If I was asking it though, good answer
