Can anyone tell me what the palest shade of grey I can safely use for my site would be? I use #ccc, but would like to go even lighter, ie just off white.

Also, is there a websafe font other than Verdana, that is as clean and crisp even when set very small, maybe 95%

Thanks.

"websafe" colours don't really apply any more. The days of browsers and monitors being limited to 256 colours is far far behind us.

Is this some kind of national secret?

Why is everybody so reluctant to tell me the palest shade of grey available?

well it's this then #FEFEFE but you'd be hard pushed to discern the difference between that and white, hence the suggestion of #e0e0e0

davemies has listed it, but you have to try out different ones to see what you fits your needs the best.

The best way to tell what color you want is to use a color picker like in Photoshop or this website: http://kuler.adobe.com/
