Hi; and thanks in advance for any help.
I was recently asked to spring-clean a website - add new news, correct spelling errors by the guy who made it, etc, but the company had little or no knowledge of how everything worked. The guy had used Frontpage, and the company had no idea about FTP or anything. Anyway, I was told to use Windows Explorer to open up the page, and then File>Edit In Frontpage, which I did
In the index, there were two spelling mistakes, which I corrected through the Main view rather than the HTML view (my mistake, I now realise). Anyway, I pressed ctrl+S afterwards, and the page looked the same, just spelling corrected.
A few minutes later, I went back to look at the page. The top banner and some navigation had gone, as had the HTML referring to it. No matter what I tried (inserting the banner and nav HTML, creating a new page and inserting the entire page HTML from a copy I had luckily saved on Dreamweaver), I was unable to get the banner and navigation back. All pages across the entire site have been affected in the same way.
The cell where the banner/navigation goes now has just plain text with the name of the page, and says something like "To view banner, see in navigation view".
Since I know very little about Frontpage, having avoided it like the plague, I'm asking if anyone knows how to fix this.
If you can, you'll have my extreme gratitude.
