Hi
Well, you are right by getting opinions, suggestions from this forum. The members of this forum are well versed in internet marketing. My suggestion, as I have been in this for about eight weeks now, is do research, research, and more research. Don't jump into the first thing that you see on the internet. If you know how to create your own web page, then that's a great start. However, if you don't, there are many sites available that can do that for you. Find a product that you want to market and take it from there. I have learned a lot from the "plug in profit site". It is a step by step teaching on how to be successful in internet marketing.
Be patient and take deep breaths. This business can make your head spin at times! :taz:
Good luck!

Yeppers,
Start small. save most of that money until you know better how to use it.
I've got a free e-book I use, and it includes a couple of months of follow-up suggestions. You will find it on this page about business ideas.
Take your time and don't jump in too quick.
enjoy

I agree with Bastiat,
Start small, because most sites I have found will ask for more money on different items. And I have fallen into those before....just remember, when you jump in, it is your business not a hobby.

Well, with a good designer and a website optimization consultant, you may well spend the entire sum on creating your website. It'll be a good website, user and search engine friendly, but you'll need to add content and promote it.
Really, you need a lot of time, knowledge and skills to live by $1550.
Here is an article about investing $3000 in online business.
As for which field to enter, you'd rather consider your interests. Working on something you love will increase your productivity and you'll drop fast if you don't have fun.
Aside interest, the field you want to join would rather be a niche, where you know something to write about and provide value.
Aside from anything, you may want to try affiliate marketing, but that area is oversaturated IMHO, unless you do find a tiny niche.

$1550 may lead you to be bare/minimum amateur marketer. Do the research. Currently, I take 30 days course with PIPS which I learn more from than I did myself for two years. It will cost you much less.

Don't Spend anything now.
First you must know which business plan you want to follow?
Affiliate.
Create your products
Blogging for money
freelancer
Offering your services
and many other business type.
Internet is not a get rich quick scheme. It's not different than offline businesses. When you understand that and what you want to do on the web, you can start to invest in your education.
Ask before buying anything if you have a doubt in the beginning.
If you are good at typing, and like to write, you could ceate a Private Label Rights site, or offering your services as a ghostwriter.

I'd personally either save the money for later or buy a couple of things I really wanted, like a large sturdy, burn-proof cooking pan and leave the rest in the closet
Need around $10-20k to invest in a website a bit seriously, really.
I have read somewhere that you need to spend $10k on a website, no matter what. Be it your time and efforts, a hired developer or any other assistance. Just burning them on PPC won't do anything I suspect, though.

Really, lucky me because I didn´t know that :1eye: You don´t have to spend half of this. You can always use opensource and change it a little, partner with a person who does the opposite (coding - management) as you but has same goals.
I´ve spent about 200$ on codiong for my website. I still don´t have a design but it works great (OScommerce). And now I´ve partnered with a friend for a couple of projects and he´ll do the new webshop.
Just think what are the options. And spending 20k $ in the beginning definitely isn´t the one.

You've got a unique talent in doing 250 words a minute. I suggest you find some sort of niche or service that you can provide to take advantage of it.

Do me a favor. Read boards for at least a month and get really excited about creating a website that interests you while your money sits and waits. Please do not jump into anything.

I would say set up a few sites (if u havent already done) like tester sites in what u plan to do to see how they go, dont go spending huge sums unless u have success with the smaller sites.

Depends on what you want to do. Give me the money and I can quadruple that amount invested in the first 4 weeks.

Ill second that.
Save your money, don't be quick to spend it. Think long and hard about what interests you, as well as what can make you money. If you do a site on something you hate, you won't have the motivation you would with something you like a bit more.
