I'm a writer, and I'm designing a website to showcase my writing. I've come up with this as an interface I'd like to have for a user to browse my stories, and I'm not sure if it's possible or how to go about it.

I want the bar at the top to be a loop of the items I add to it (text or image). Then when something is selected the first page of that selection will appear in the box below. Then that box can be manipulated through a next/back control to scroll through either text pages or images of the selected story.
In particular the top sleection bar has me stumped. How would I go about doing this?
