I am planning on starting a webmaster directory. What tips can you give? know any free scripts (i seen some) or good paid ones?

I am planning on using the domain "lol0.com" if it doesn't get sold. I know its odd but I've seen stranger ones for a directory.

Use php link directory. I see a lot of people using this free script. The tip is posted on the other forum. Always remember to get .htaccess mod rewrite urls or sef urls.

Its search engine friendly urls

e.g. of pages

something like directory-auto.html or directory-auto/

you dont want to get directory.php32GAtTQW#12

Its better for google and other search engine to index your site.

Okay here is the link " phplinkdirectory.com " they have a demo you can see and support forum also. Am sure they have a template system you can change to suit your needs. I wouldn't worry too much about the design and layout yet, but rather then getting content to your site.

You can also ask someone to do a manual submission on $20 for 200 directory submission. This is usually from DP.

What do you mean? Submit the directory to 200 directories or?

Well, you pay a person (depending on their prices) to do a hand-submission.. meaning they will submit your directory link and description to other directories for you. In return, you pay them and they should give you the list of directories where you can see your link submitted.

Oh ya that was what I ment. Oh well I think I can pretty much do that myself. When I have time, but if I don't I will hire someone.

One more question, I thought the php directory script was free? Last time I saw it, it was. But at the site it saids I need to pay. DId I misread it? o_O

Oh yes. I already have one version of it downloaded.

Now do I just upload the entire file at once onto the site or install it somehow?

There should be a readme doc file in the zip. Usually you upload the script and change the config. file to match your database.

After that you just goto the install.php page or whatever its called. The rest the setup automatically. Oh be the way you have to create the MySQL database before you go install.

Yes it does. I used lol0.com because I was just trying to test it out and all, I originally bought it for something else but decided to sell it then changed my mind and now I changed my mind again so lol0.com is up for sale again

OK im confused on how to install it. I uploaded the entire folder. So what link do I go to install it?/
Or do I manually put the files in the folder to the home root/directory so the directory will appear on first page? but then .htaccess is already there and the directory has one too.

Have you tried what "neurosis4u" said? If so tell me if its going wrong. I will d/l the file and see where you problem is.

BTW: is it the 3rd version or PLD2?
