Big topic around the net, and many people see it but don't exactly know what it is. I have a small incling on what it is, but don't really know too much about it. Anyone is free to explain and discuss this. :ninja:

In my knowledge, vector is like a mask/shape for a graphic/image. And vector will and never pixelized... Don't know that much as well :P

Havent really touched on vectors myself but I know you can increase and decrease the size of the image without effecting the quality.

I was looking at a tutorial on Vector Imaging, and they took a real car, cut around it, and filled it, than re created another image to make it 3D. After this they added all of the effects to the car, and that was it. The car literally looked real. Here it the link. http://www.heathrowe.com/tuts/vector.asp .

That is pretty nice however it isnt a true vector image. You cant use photoshop to create a true vector image. This is because photoshop makes everything in pixels.

Cool thing with vector images is that you can zoom in as far as Illustrator or any other vector imaging program will allow you and you still keep the same quality as you would if the image where at 100%.

The best place to create vector images is Adobe Illustrator or Macromedia Freehand.

Shadow's statement is untrue. Photoshop has vector capabilities, and the image created was a true vector image, it just wasn't created in an application used solely for vector imaging.

A lot of graphic manipulation programs have the capability to produce vectors, but mainly work with raster (photoshop, psp, etc.) But there are some programs that were created for the sole purpose of producing vector art. These include illustrator and freehand, as specified above.

If your doing vectors in photoshop, use the anchor point tool to shape your vector layer to whatever you want it to be.

If your trying to create a vector image of an already existing object, use an image of that object as your guide. Use the Pen Tool to create an outline of that object, then with that as your base you will be able to continue work.
