There's no an average price.

You charge by how much you spend plus the overhead.

How much you spend depends on the quality of your work, whether you take SEO, usability and accessibility into account and how much time it takes for you to create a website.

Indeed it does (design, SEO, accessibility, and clean code).

Yeah it's really important.
I've seen some as cheap as $50 with nice quality and some as high as $200 but extremely bad quality..

My main rule is - Dont Sell Yourself Short - meaning, dont charge $500 when the client would have paid $1000.

I have done sites for $500 (just did one recently) but they bought me a template and gave me all the content - it took about 5 hours to complete.

I am quoting another one right now for about $2000 but I am making a custom design for it.

Charge what you feel you are worth. It is your time that you are selling that you could be using to do something else. So if you have to work, at least charge something to make it worth your while.

I agree, I usually go for about $150-350 with just a psd design and about $25 a pop for another subpage. But as for my coding skills (XHTML.CSS) I would add about $150 for the site to be coded with SEO, usability.

Well, anyone can calculate their average but it isn't going to mean anything.

I've done a few dirt cheap sites like anyone, but rarely touch anything under $2,000 these days.

Cost absolutely depends on the job requirements and your capabilities as a designer/developer.

Well I can't really seem to find anyone who is willing to pay me more then $200 for a site. That would include full design and coding. This is the site I made the most of of: http://condogossip.com/ and all I got was $250. I would love to find someone who would pay me even $500 for a site.

for psd, about $200, a full design and coding shouldn't be less than $500-$650. I'd say for a professional looking site with good SEO and usability, about $1,500 to $2,000 should work, depending on the size. There's really no limit o:

I honestly think that if you are taking $300 for a full site - you are totally selling yourself short.

You should be making more money for a full site design.

If not, you need to be looking for better paying clients.

I agree with Dadofgage. Another point to remember when calculating costs is that you have to factor in all the adjustments, small tweaks, etc that the client will ask for(guaranteed).

Not to mention that you should be spending money on yourself - education, material, etc. I try to attend at least one conference a year as far as design - I did Photoshop World this year and will probably do Macromedia Max in 2007. I also try to keep up with reference material - i.e. books - as well.

You have to have software, computer/laptop, internet service, furniture, electricity, etc. - these costs should all be added into the price.

I really don't think it is easy to give such a figure. For example, how much would you pay for a car? It all depends on if the car is new, has high mileage, is it rusty, does it smell inside? Is it a porche?

I design the occasional template ranging from anywhere from £150 (approx $285) for a few hours work, to £600-£1000 (approx $1100 - $1900) for a more complex job.
