hi,
I am a student in a university and I want to build a community website for students. there will be classfields (marketplace of earnersforum), galleries, articles (we have a monthly magazine,) and ofcourse forum. is a vbulletin script enough for that? When I get vbulleting script where do I get addons/components/extensions? It is going to be community website and each division will have its own moderators. like earnersforum and sitepoint.
what would you suggest me?
ps (dont suggest to learn php and code it from the scratch)

You can do everything you described with vBulletin + addons. You should spend a lot of time browsing (and asking more questions like this) over at vbulletin.org (you have to buy a vB license before you can post there).

There is a demo of vbulletin at vbulletin.com as well as a demo/comparison system of forum software at adminfusion.com. But thats as good as you can get for trying it out.

I don't think you should have any doubts with vBulletin, it is top of the line software and most of the popular forums use it. If you want to build a forum right, vBulletin is the way to go.

It does take some time/modifications to get it the way you want!

If you are looking for a cost-effective solution to a community system like this one, I reccommend phpBB.

There are plenty of add-on features like the ones you have described around.

I would go against phpBB unless you are really desperate...There's nothing unique about phpBB...

If you want, you can start off with it, and convert to vBulletin later on though!

Using phpBB leaves you open to sercurty risk. You never want that on your mind. The dedicated support alone is worth the price of vBulletin. It's really the best way to go, in my opinion.

Well, you are trying vBulletin right now Of course you don't have the backend available to you, but everything you are looking for, has been done with vBulletin. I would suggest starting with vBulletin, and getting the basics set up, then focusing on adding the modifications, either by yourself, or hiring someone to do it.

I don't know, it could be, or it could be a custom CMS, or some CMS I didn't hear about?
